Punked Out by the Police!

Last week, Dunwoody Georgia Police made news by calling out an arrestee on Facebook. The 19-year-old male (not named) was arrested for DUI and Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, among other charges. THEN, to make matters worse, the Police Department made an example of him on social media, making fun of every-single-thing he did that evening, from reckless driving to running from the police. Oh the shame!

That brings me to my lesson of the day boys and girls: do not post illegal activity and behavior on social media!! Why does this even need to be said?

The young man in Dunwoody posted photos of himself drinking and videos of driving his car over 150 mph and doing burnouts in a parking lot. Listen up, here is the crazy thing about Facebook, Instagram, etc.: it is on the internet, therefore public!! It does not matter if you have private profiles. Once you post something on the internet, you should assume that everyone (including your Mama) can see it. Then you should assume that it can and will be used against you in a court of law. You do not want to be that guy that gave the police and prosecutors evidence against you because you cannot stay off the internet.

Here is some terrifying information: There is no Instagram on the inside. No Snapchat in the slammer.

So, stick to selfies (keep it classy) and cat videos and you should be a-ok! Have fun and always be safe!
